About Me
Background
I worked as a Chef for 15 years before pursuing a career in IT. I worked in everything from corporately owned restaurants to family-owned brew pubs, cafes, and sandwhich shops. It taught me time management, working with other people that are very different from me and that have different skill sets, cooking skills, and (Above all!) coolness under pressure.
I began working in the IT field as a Help Desk Tech (Systems Administrator) in 2015 and I enjoyed every second of it. The work is challenging and it always gives me a chance to learn something new every day. I like to work with individual users to solve problems from hardware issues to network and printer problems that they have as well as the various projects that we would have around the office. This also included the occasional heavy lifting when it came around. Coming from a kitchen environment, I hate to stay idle in the workplace. I am always looking for things to do and I don't like to leave until the job is done.
I know that I can be calm and cool in all circumstances and I have no trouble working with others to solve whatever problems come up. I know I can bring a positive attitude and an absolute profressionalism to any job that I have, but also realize those things have to be proven. I hope I can continue doing that.
Goals and Aspirations
Although most of my experience is as a Help Desk Technician, my ultimate goal is get involved in Privacy and Cybersecurity as a career. I believe that the more we get connected to our devices and each other, the more our lives become fair game for exploitation and corruption. I want to protect people against that and help them to be more aware of the world around them.
I also believe that people need a sanctuary to go and be themselves. The internet can provide that if we use it in the right way. I want to keep learning about new technologies and how to implement them in the most efficient way. I hope I can continue to work with talented, smart people to accomplish the goals we all have for technology and the future.
Hobbies and Activities
I've been pursuing screenwriting for a long time now. I've written over 50 screenplays so far and have many ideas that I'm going to pursue. I also enjoy cooking, writing in my food blog, hiking, and bicycling. There's no real activity I'm not interested in.
